Below, you’ll find answers to some frequently asked questions that provide insights into the opportunities and impact you can expect with enFocus. Application Process

  • Applications for all our programs can be submitted through our website. We review applications in batches on a rolling basis, so you are encouraged to apply early.

  • The application process typically includes an initial 30-minute interview, a 1-hour case study interview, and reference checks.

  • enFocus recognizes the talents and value international candidates bring to the table. We accept all candidates with U.S. Work Authorization, including CPT and OPT. Staff with temporary work authorization who have been a good match are considered for H1-B Sponsorship. While we have gone through this process and received approval in the past, we cannot guarantee sponsorship for all candidates.

  • Yes! Our Fellows and interns have a high level of autonomy and responsibility in their work that reflects that candidate’s ability to manage their own tasks. About a third of our team has Master’s or terminal degrees.

  • All of our positions have some in-person requirements. Unless your role specifically indicates remote work, you will be expected to move to the area.

  • There is no need to contact team members before submitting your application. Our recruitment team is happy to answer your questions at a career fair or via email. You do not need to conduct informational interviews with Fellows or other team members; the recruitment team is best positioned to answer your questions.

  • No, our Fellowship and internship Programs are separate with two unique applications. Anyone with a bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD is eligible to apply.

  • Yes! It is not a guarantee that interns will receive an offer for the Fellowship or a permanent staff position after their program, but each year we have several interns who are offered full-time roles upon completion.

  • If you were not selected for one of our cohorts in the past, please consider reapplying with your updated resume. We often have individuals join our team the second year they apply.

Fellowship Program

  • Learning is a core value of enFocus and we offer Fellows many opportunities for professional development through a dedicated learning framework. This framework includes learning-by-doing on projects, as well as on demand learning, group professional development events, coaching, mentorship, and individual learning opportunities.

  • Our work involves consulting-like projects where Fellows and interns create high-impact solutions for local businesses, civic organizations, and nonprofits. We offer project-based services in civic, industrial, and entrepreneurial sectors, helping organizations with strategic planning, process improvement, and innovation projects.

  • RDE work allows Fellows to dedicate about 30% of their time to pursuing their own interests through researching issues and solutions, helping local start-ups develop their businesses, an/or launching their own entrepreneurial endeavor.

  • Yes, you can dedicate over 1000 paid hours towards launching your own product, initiative, or business, with direct mentorship from experienced start-up professionals and access to industry resources.

Life in the South Bend-Elkhart Region

  • The region offers affordable living with a low cost of living index. Housing options are diverse, ranging from apartments to condos and houses, all at a wide range of prices.

  • The region has something for everyone - numerous parks, cultural festivals like the Elkhart Jazz Festival, outdoor activities such as kayaking on the St. Joseph River, a vibrant arts community, and local sports like the South Bend Cubs and Notre Dame athletics.
