Ashwin Mitra

Senior Fellow

A native of Illinois, Ashwin developed an early interest in STEM and professional development at a young age. After attending the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy, he went on to graduate from Purdue University with B.S. in Chemical Engineering and a minor in Management in December 2017.

During his time at Purdue, Ashwin concentrated his interests toward energy and the environment. He was a research assistant with the Vilas Pol Energy Research Group (ViPER), gathering an understanding of Li-S battery technologies to design and develop his own hypothesized coin-cell battery synthesis technique. Interested in expanding his knowledge, Ashwin worked as an Office of Technology Commercialization Intern at the Purdue Research Foundation. He transposed complicated research proposals into condensed abstracts to help facilitate patent referrals for emerging technologies at the university. After graduating from Purdue, Ashwin flexed his entrepreneurial chops by contributing to a growing professional development firm aimed at helping Asian students transition into the workforce.

For Ashwin, enFocus provides the opportunity to directly see his impact on the community while continuing to develop himself professionally. He is passionate about working on sustainable projects that can help “advance the human condition” and create long-term solutions to everyday problems. His interests continue to guide him toward environmentally conscious and data-driven solutions.

Outside of the office, Ashwin is an avid dancer and amateur screenwriter. Having danced with the Purdue Dance 2XS team for three years, he continues to express himself through any medium available. He enjoys connecting with friends and developing new experiences and relationships through online gaming.
