Mia McDermott

Innovation Fellow

Originally from Spring Lake, Michigan, Mia McDermott graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a degree in Chemical Engineering. When she wasn't in the library, she was working for Notre Dame Boxing, facilitating their efforts to support children's education in East Africa and Bangladesh.

During the summer of 2023, Mia interned at Notre Dame's Center for Civic Innovation, working on sustainability and community engagement projects in Elkhart. Her experiences there solidified her desire to help enact positive change using community-driven solutions. She looks forward to connecting with regional leaders to spur innovation and create stronger, more resilient communities.

Mia is interested in projects that foster healthier communities, whether that be through the healthcare sector, educational opportunities, or social initiatives. She is especially keen on incorporating sustainability considerations into any plan of action.
