Akash earned his undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Missouri University of Science and Technology and received a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University. Akash is applying his mechanical engineering knowledge to drive internet innovation in our region.

At enFocus, we specialize diving deep into organizational challenges and finding solutions to overcome obstacles. Recently, we have had an opportunity to dig-deep and design solutions for the regional manufacturer Skidmore, a Swan Group Company.

The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago, the second best time is now. This wisdom rings true as we, enFocus, and representatives of the City of South Bend welcomed the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 5 Administrator, Debra Shore. During her visit she met with the enFocus team to learn how we will use the recently announced $500,000 Environmental Justice Community Problem Solving (EJCPS) grant to advance sustainability initiatives in South Bend.

By the time I was a senior in high school, I had a clear vision of what I wanted to do next. My dream school was in Texas. My friends told me that there was always something to do there, new people to meet. I’d already known about its passion for football and prized traditions.

Our Civic and Industry portfolios guide the work we do, and present our Fellows with a variety of projects they can work on at once. An enFocus Fellow can work on 2-3 projects simultaneously, differing in sectors, skills, and backgrounds.

As a core value at enFocus, learning is a part of everything we do. Professional development is an extension of the hands-on learning process our Fellows participate in everyday.

Our team lives, works, and plays throughout the region. Together, Saint Joseph, Elkhart, Marshall, and Berrien Counties join enFocus as we strive to become a national model for talent attraction and retention. We offer activities for Fellows to create a deeper connection with the region, and we hope for them to someday call it home.

Innovation ecosystems need to incubate new products, services, and startups to spark regional economic growth. As communities fully commit to transforming their innovation ecosystems, up-and-coming social initiatives are equally important for community progress.
